Toys for Joy is an annual event where new, unwrapped toys are collected, sorted, wrapped, and delivered to the Kent Food Bank for distribution to needy families in the community. A portion of the toys will also be donated to other local food banks and non-perishable food donations will also be accepted.

"Door To Door is providing us with much needed assistance for our program by donating containers in which to keep the collected toys," said Paul Lyons, Toys for Joy Program Coordinator. "The Toys for Joy program is able to keep functioning due to support of businesses such as Door To Door. This year it is vital as we know that we will need to help an increased number of families with children because of the economy."

On December 2, 2008, the containers will be delivered to Fire Station 75, located at Lake Meridian. The station will be used as a central sorting location with units designated to hold toys for children by age group. Several "Wrapping Parties" will be held, providing the opportunity for community members, including Door To Door employees, to gather and wrap all of the donated toys prior to distribution.

"Door To Door is headquartered in Kent, so our employees and their families feel especially committed to help those that need assistance in our community," said Annette Jacobs, president and CEO, Door To Door Storage. "In addition to providing logistical support, our employees will participate in the program’s activities and we encourage our fellow community members to do so as well."

Case Study: Kettler Development Saves $1,000,000 with LATISTA software

Case Study: Kettler Development Saves $1,000,000 with LATISTA software

Kettler Development, the Washington, D.C., area’s largest real estate developer, started using Latista Field quality assurance and warranty maintenance software in 2006 and has saved more than $1 million as a result.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 25, 2008 — Based in Northern Virginia, Kettler Development is Washington’s largest real estate developer. Kettler Development is a leading developer of award-winning, mixed-use residential and commercial properties across the Washington Metropolitan area. In 2008, Kettler was named one of the area’s largest private companies by the Washington Business Journal and is one of the nation’s top multifamily developers. Kettler has developed more than five million square feet of commercial space and more than 50,000 homes and was named Property Management Company of the Year at the 2008 Pillars of the Industry Awards by the National Association of Home Builders. Kettler manages a diverse portfolio of apartments and offers third-party management services for individual and institutional owners. Current projects include urban and transit-oriented developments, multifamily housing, commercial and mixed-use developments and resort communities.

LATISTA Field software has been an integral part of Kettler’s quality assurance and warranty program since 2006. The unique software handles more than just construction management. It is web-based and mobile, allowing Kettler inspectors to manage deficiency correction equally well from the office and in the field. LATISTA Field also contains a comprehensive note-taking system that replaces pen and paper processes with a digital database, which includes photo documentation, time-stamped records, and search functions.

"The service module is very valuable to us," says John Longo, Kettler Vice President of Homeowner Services. "If I want to pull up a report of what vendors aren’t getting work done or what issues are still open, it’s all available in LATISTA. I don’t have to have somebody in the office coordinating and counting all this raw data from the field."

In their relatively brief time using LATISTA Field, Kettler has already saved a significant amount of money since they get better quality and deficiency correction from their contractors. "To quantify it–it’s about $1,000 per unit in savings," says Longo. "Over the 1,000 units we’ve put together in the last two years, that’s a savings of $1 million."

LATISTA looks forward to working with Kettler in the future, as the development company’s needs change. "LATISTA can be customized to make project management more efficient before, during, and after construction, and it’s scalable to work on one project or several," says LATISTA Executive Vice President Chris Ramsey. "As Kettler transitions from a construction-focused company into a warranty and maintenance mode, LATISTA will be able to transition with them to continue saving them money."

About LATISTA

LATISTA has been a leader in mobile and web-based field management software and services since its founding in 2001. Its software is used by top contractors and owners worldwide to reduce project costs and risks by eliminating redundancy, enhancing collaboration among project participants, and allowing more thorough analysis of project performance.

Simon Gets Festive With Seasonal Coupons, Deals & Giveaways Galore

Retailers, national brands team up with Simon to ring in Santa, shoppers and seasonal sales. This year, Simon will transform a trip to the mall – and a visit with Santa – into a celebration that gives shoppers a chance to take advantage of the free gifts and coupons, holiday television programming, and much more offered by holiday sponsors this year.

Indianapolis, Ind. (PRWEB) November 24, 2008 — National brands are hopping on the holiday sleigh at Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG) to welcome smart shoppers, Santa Claus and his elves to a truly festive season of shopping.

This year, Simon will transform a trip to the mall – and a visit with Santa – into a celebration that gives shoppers a chance to take advantage of the free gifts and coupons, holiday television programming and much more offered by holiday sponsors this year.

While at the mall, families can also sign up for the Simon Kidgits Club or pick up a Simon Giftcard, the goof-proof gifting choice of the season.

Kids and their moms and dads can celebrate the arrival of the holidays with a trip to Santa’s Village, where photos and other activities for the whole family await them. Families can also enter to win a special at-home visit from Santa through the "Make a New Holiday Memory" sweepstakes, offered at Simon.com.

And this year, a visit with Santa Claus isn’t just reserved for the kids: Now animal lovers can now share the magical experience of the season with their four-legged (or dual-winged) friends through photos with Santa, provided by Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s all-new movie, Beethoven’s Big Break, available on DVD December 30th, 2008. With an all-star cast including Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernies), Moises Arias (Hanna Montana), Rhea Perlman (TV’s Cheers) and more, Beethoven’s Big Break is jam packed with more action, more laughs and more surprises than ever before!

"This holiday season, Simon Malls are bringing brands and shoppers together for fun and interactive festivities close that are sure to lighten up the heart of even that holiday Scrooge," said Cathi Weiner, senior vice president of Simon Brand Ventures, the business-to-consumer arm of Simon Property Group.

"Smart shoppers walking through Simon’s mall doors this year will have a great time participating in our special holiday events, while taking advantage of the hot sales and deals as well as variety of selection, all under one roof," added Lisa Bennett, Assistant Vice President of Business Development of Simon Brand Ventures.

National sponsors Sears, ABC Family, Duracell, Underwriters Laboratories, Simon Malls lighting and safety sponsor, and Gymboree will be setting up shop to sprinkle shoppers with coupons, free samples, safety tips for the holidays and giveaways straight from Santa’s magic sack.

"The parents’ mantra during the holidays is ‘Don’t forget the batteries’ because part of the joy in their child’s holiday is having toys and games that stay powered throughout the season," said Pat Vesay, assistant brand manager for Proctor & Gamble’s Duracell brand. "Simon Malls provide a unique, creative and fun environment for reaching our consumers, and we can’t wait to connect with them while they’re doing their shopping or getting that traditional portrait with Santa."

Sears will serve as presenting sponsor of the Simon Santa experience at all participating properties, distributing special coupon offers, while associate sponsor ABC Family plans to spread holiday cheer with highlights from its 25 Days of Christmas programming. Gymboree will distribute 20-percent-off coupons, and Underwriters Laboratories will provide safety tips for the holidays as families prepare for the season.
